Four of Puerto Rico’s most beautiful beaches are bestowed with the honor of The Blue Flag designation, an exclusive ecological categorization granted to a limited number of beaches and marinas around the world. Of the more than two dozen Caribbean islands, only four islands have the honor of a Blue Flag designation, and Puerto Rico has four beaches that meet the strict standards:

The Blue Flag designation is given on the basis of strict criteria covering bathing water quality, waste management, sewage treatment and coastal planning and protection. The program is owned and run by The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), an independent, non-profit organization.
